March of the Penguins

Well, as promised ...here are some penguin pictures. "Gook! Gook!" We decided that this means 'Hello!'...in "penguinese."  Today was one of those very active days in Elementary School. The children were very busy, and some very tired by the time dismissal arrived. Enjoy!

 My precious penguins!
 "Beautiful smiles!"...enough said.

Playing in the snow was my favorite.

 Does it get any cuter?!!

Thank you, Mrs. Stout for these pictures.

COMING SOON...

Be on the look out for a rather adorable group of creatures. They have been seen waddling down the hall, collecting things for their rookery, and definitely not being idle during their academic time. I believe they bear a rather close resemblance to the creature below:

"Gook!"

JUST A REMINDER: INTERNATIONAL DAY IS FRIDAY, SEPT. 30th!!!
The parade begins at 8:15 and chapel begins at 8:45. Afterwards, we will have a Rotation Celebration for the second graders. Looking forward to seeing you there!!

REMINDERS

It has come to my attention that there was some miscommunication about our chapel time.  Please accept my apology for this inconvenience. Our chapel time is on Fridays, 8:45-9:30.

* SAVE THE DATE! International Day will be on September 30th this year. We will be attending chapel from 8:30-9:45 and then coming back to the 2nd grade hallway for class rotations and celebrations!

* Please have your purple placard at dismissal time. Remember, I may recognize you but a substitute will not. This is for the safety of your child.

* All students should be reading 15 minutes daily to reach their AR (Accelerated Reader) goals. Please encourage your child to read for pleasure! This will benefit them in all of their academic subjects.

* When visiting our campus for lunch, volunteering in the classroom, or to have a conference with me, please sign in at the reception desk by the fish tank and get a visitor's badge.

THANK YOU!

I want to thank all of the parents that attended our 2011 Back to School Night. Didn't those first and fourth graders sing wonderfully? I was so moved by their energy and enthusiasm. What a great way to begin our school year! Aside from a minor technological set back. . . LOL!
I felt our time together was productive and I know the children LOVED the little notes that were left behind. Once again, THANK YOU for your constant prayers and support. God Bless!

"Baby, It's Cold Outside"...

or in the classroom. Our class enjoyed a scrumptious treat that made our toes tingle and our noses crinkle. As we continue to learn more about Antarctica,  our classroom is buzzing. We are enjoying some of the facts that we read, eating tasty penguin "pup"-cakes ( as I accidentally called them), and watching more exciting expeditions. So, grab yourself a mug of hot cocoa, coffee or tea and enjoy these adorable pictures of your Antarctic Explorers enjoying their snack!  THANK YOU to MRS. DOUMA FOR THE CUPCAKES!!!

Ready, Set, Go!

We don't just read and write. We play too! The children are making new friends and learning to communicate in a loving and kind way.
